As an art educator, I believe art is for everyone, and a skill that can be built regardless of level of innate talent. I believe that self-expression is just as important as the development of technical skill, thus the curriculum should focus on both. The art classroom should be a space where students feel safe to explore themselves uninhibited. All level of abilities should be welcomed and celebrated. Students should have opportunities to work with traditional and contemporary media and processes and analyze, explain, and discuss their art with their peers. It is important for any art program to be connected to the community and district, as art education is a serious discipline that provides students with fundamental skills necessary to be successful in the real world.

About me
Someone once told me I have a joyous laugh, and good thing because I laugh a lot and love when others do as well!
I married my high school sweetheart, and together we have a beautiful family that I enjoy documenting through my photography.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve gotten into gardening and coaching youth soccer. I could never have imagined how much joy either of those would bring.
Learning is one of my favorite hobbies; I love to challenge myself. I am curious and observant in nature. If you were to ask me to describe the color of an item, my answer would be specific, not basic—something like goldenrod, chartreuse, or mauve!
I have enjoyed gaining experience in the eLearning world and proving that my creativity knows no bounds; however, I deeply miss the personal connections and relationships with students, hands and clothes covered in art materials, and the absolute astonishment and joy on the students’ faces when I introduce a new medium or process. That is what I am striving to experience again.

It is so awesome that you are here! I would love to speak about the possibility of working together. Send me a message so we can make that possibility a reality!
